Stamba Hotel
This former Soviet publishing house in the up-and-coming Vera district has been completely reborn. Stripped back to its bones, Stamba soft opened last summer, though work is still ongoing — its rooftop pool and bar will open in May. Guests can expect walkways floating among raw concrete struts and columns, and lashings of sunlight, thanks to the central atrium-style area. The 42 rooms (100 more are planned) are huge and high-ceilinged, with a lush art deco theme. From £171.

Iota
Another 2018 opening, Iota is a boxy, modern building with industrial-style rooms; expect grey walls, sliding doors and huge windows. Yet, there’s a fresh and airy feel to the building thanks to internal glass walls overlooking patches of greenery, and ‘living’ walls covered in plant pots. There’s also a ‘wine observatory’ — or cellar — specialising in Georgian wines. Doubles from £78.

Fabrika
This hotel-hostel hybrid was the first to kick off Tbilisi’s new wave of accommodation. Set in an old sewing factory, it’s one of the city’s hippest hangouts, whose impromptu parties in the festoon-lit courtyard can go on into the night. As well as the dorms, there are simple but functional private rooms and ‘apartment-style suites’ which sleep four and include kitchenettes. From £40.

Vinotel
Occupying a house built in the 19th century by a local winemaker, Vinotel has retained its founder’s passion, as well as his smart brick cellar. Rooms are slightly Scandi, slightly kitsch, with wood panelling paired with outre art and rather retro bathrooms. But, you’ll most likely spend your time down in the cellar, where you can try a variety of Georgian natural wines. Doubles from £73.
