From wine routes to walking holidays, escorted tours are everywhere. Devotees will tell you of how stress-free they are to organise, of the packed itineraries and of the exclusive chance to get up close to people, places and experiences you might miss going solo. But what are the advantages of joining a group to discover a destination rather than doing it alone? How do you choose the right one for you? Join us at the Destinations Show London where our expert panel will be on hand to tackle all your burning questions, from where to go to how to do it.

Panel
Emma Thomson, National Geographic Traveller (UK) contributor
Emma is a regular contributor toNational Geographic Traveller (UK) and regularly joins escorted tours to cover them in national press, including a recent trip to the ancient Iranian cities of Persepolis, Shiraz, Esfahan and Yazd. She’s keen to debunk the myth that group tours mean being herded like sheep — times have changed and so have escorted tours. @emmathomson

He is also chairman of the Assocation of Tourism and Adventure Suppliers, runs his own small tour operators, South Downs Way Tours, and is deputy chair of Cruise Lines Association International (CLIA) UK.

Having previously worked for companies including Travelsphere and American Express, his main areas of interest include the Deep South and Central Europe.
